Alex Santoriello, originated roles in the Broadway musicals Les Miserables, Chess & Three Penny Opera and starred other major productions including Jesus Christ Superstar and Cats. Film and TV credits include the Academy Award nominated, “Far From Heaven” and the soap opera “All My Children”.
After a ten-year acting career, Alex semi-retired to a life of performing in concerts, which in turn brought him to Barbados. After three years of doing the Sandy Lane Gold Cup Festival Alex made his move to Barbados. Four years later, Lexy Piano Bar was born.
Each year Alex performs at dozens of local and international charitable events. In 2007, he was privileged to perform at the reopening ceremony of the Kensington Oval and again during World Cup Cricket. For the past two years ago he served as director of the Barbados National Boys Choir, a National Cultural Foundation initiative to promote vocal music & training for young singers.
After winning the coveted NATS singing award in 1978 his opera career was short-lived starting and ending with the Bergen Opera in Norway. From 1997 to 2000 he operated the only parasailing company in NYC history.
In 1994, Alex produced and presented the world premiere of A Tale of Two Cities, in concert. In October of 2007 the fully-staged world premiere of “Tale” took place in Sarasota, Florida and on September 18, 2008 "Tale" will open at the Hirschfeld Theatre on Broadway. Jill Santoriello, Alex's sister, who spent a lifetime adapting Dickens' "Tale" into a musical wrote the music, lyrics and book for this Broadway production.
